The text in “Broken Telephone” consisted of phrases taken from a string of messages sent by a loved one.
Receiving the text felt like a physical force
For this exhibition, we recreated the impact of each phrase through the architecture of the stairwell
We then invited visitors to step inside and participate in their own “Broken Telephone” by adding the last message they could find on their phone from a loved one, beginning to build a new architecture of phrases
Through the collective sharing of these phrases, patterns of communication reveal the emotional push and pull between ourselves and the people we love the most.
